By following these instructions, the small amount needed for a bracelet can be easily collected without hurting your horse or damaging the tail. The hair needs to be 20 to 23 inches long and approximately 1/2 inch in diameter. Choose the longest hairs at the bottom of the tail, separating as many short hairs as possible. Cut at the underside close to the tailbone in 2 to 4 different groups of hair to avoid cutting a chunk from one place. Clip with scissors and wrap a rubber band around the top. Place your collected hair in a plastic baggie with your name and your horse's name and mail to Cottage Tails, 10612 Quail Ridge Drive, Ponte Vedra, FL 32081.
