Cottage Tails was formed to create honor and memory jewelry made from your special horse by braiding the tail into jewelry. Each item is individually hand worked and completed with a variety of custom sterling silver finishings, gems and/or Swarovski crystals. We offer engraving, special orders and quick turn around of your finished item. We understand the loving relationship you have with your horse and our goal is to create a stunning jewelry piece to honor or remember the joy this special animal brings into your life.

Can I use Mane Hair instead of Tail Hair?
Mane Hair is much weaker and tends to break off during braiding. It does not hold up over time, so we recommend Tail Hair only. Under certain circumstances we can add tail hair to the mane hair if it is all that is available.
Will taking hair from my horse's tail ruin his tail?
No. By following the guidelines for collecting your horse's tail, the small amount needed will be undectable even from a thin tail.
Can I mix several horse's tail together?
Yes. We can braid several hores's tail together to form a pattern or color variation.
How do I clean my jewelry piece?
You can clean the sterling pieces with a small amount of silver cleaner, being careful not to get it into your horse hair. The horsehair has been cleaned and separated before braiding. Should you need to clean it, use a small amount of shampoo and be sure to dry it completely.
